VICTIM SERVICES MANAGEMENT

Victim services are provided at multiple levels, by both government and private organizations (typically non-profits). VS at the governmental level may either be a separate organization, such as a state Victim Advocate, or be a sub-unit within or attached to Law Enforcement agencies, prosecutorial offices, the Courts, or even corrections departments. Most often, governmental agencies typically utilize a combined Victim/Witness coordinator program. Correctional departments also have Victim/Offender Reconciliation Programs.

The article below provides an interesting insight into the process of establishing a VS unit within a municipal law enforcement agency.
