University Wide Programs In addition to the programs unique to the Craig School of Business a significant number business and nonbusiness students are available through the University Community Service Scholarship Program, Federal Work Student Program and the Community Service classes taught at the University level.

In addition to contact information, other information provided for each program or course includes:

bullet Target Market: Programs are aimed at different types of organizations or at different functions within an organization. For example, the target market may be organizations with multiple computer workstations, since the project involves analysis of a computer network.

bullet Services Provided: This description permits the nonprofit to understand exactly what is being offered and the expected input from the organization.

bullet Primary Type of Student: Student abilities vary significantly by year in school. In addition, a class that is comprises of majors in that subject is usually more productive than a general education class or class taken by a variety of majors. Thus, more can be expected of a group of senior marketing majors than freshman who often have yet to determine their option.

bullet When to Apply for Assistance: This is VERY important. The University semester system often does not coincide with the resource needs of nonprofits. However, since many of the projects and classes are fixed in time, it is necessary to provide instructors and program directors ample time to make the necessary arrangements for service. While some exceptions can be made, the dates provided in this guide should be adhered to, if possible.

While every effort has been made to provide the detail necessary for organizations to make an informed decision, individual instructors and programs can vary. Forms or surveys that need to be completed as well as other specifics should be discussed when the projects are set up. It has been our experience that the greater the communication between the faculty and nonprofit representatives, the better the experience for everyone involved.
