Paid Summer
Internship on Air Quality Issues
The air quality summer
internship is a full-time eight-week program for high school students
interested in science, the environment, and helping their community. In the first
part of the internship, students will work with Fresno State researchers under
the guidance of Dr. Alam Hasson and Dr. Segun Ogunjemiyo to study the science
behind an environmental problem affecting the region. In the second part of the
internship, students will work with local non-profit groups to learn about
community advocacy and the environmental policy development process. The goal
of the program is to provide students with the tools needed to become community
leaders on environmental issues. The internship program is a partnership
between California State University Fresno, the Fresno-Madera Medical Society
and the Coalition for Clean Air. The program will begin June 28. Interns are
expected to work for 40 hours per week during this period, and will receive a
stipend ($2,880) for their participation in the program.
