If you are having problems connecting to WebCT, one possible reason is that your browser is set up to refuse cookies. You will need to change your settings so that it accepts cookies if this is the problem. The supported browsers are Netscape Navigator and the Microsoft Internet Explorer. Though the AOL browser may appear to work for some sections of WebCT, there are significant problems with that browser that make it unsuitable for WebCT use. With any browser, if it seems like current changes are not having any affect with your browser, hit the "reload" button or change your cache settings so that the page is loaded more often.
Also, note that after you are done visiting WebCT, it will remember your identity on that computer temporarily. If you are using a computer that may also be used by other students, you should either empty the cache or quit the browser so that they will be able to connect as themselves, rather than as you. If you try to visit the site from a public machine and it does not ask for a login and password, it probably believes you to be someone else and you should exit immediately.
The WebCT server is automatically rebooted at midnight, 4am, 8am, noon, 4pm and 8pm. It may be unavailable for a couple of minutes immediately after those times.
There are a number of labs on campus suitable for visiting our WebCT page. ITS keeps a list of open labs There is the 24-hour access lab, in Peters 133, which is open all the time during the week. There are also public labs in PHS 102, SS 202 which are open during the day when classes are not meeting there. The Education School has labs available during the day in ED 157, 165 and 169. There are some classes that meet in these labs but there is at least one lab open from 10am-10pm MTWR and 10am-7pm FSaSu. To use those labs, check in room 167 to see which is open.
Please contact Dr. Cleary if you are having problems connecting to the WebCT site or have any questions about it or computer facilities here on campus.

Notes about Problems so far This goes up to Exam 1. A complete list is on the WebCT site.
Grades will be computed as follows:
General Expectations: For each class hour spent in the lecture or the lab, I expect at least two hours spent outside of class reading and understa nding notes from lecture and working on the homework.
Front Row Duty: The participation grade will largely be based upon Front Row Duty performance. Each lecture after the first week, there will be ab out 5 people who will be on Front Row Duty. The names will be announced in advance and we will cycle through the entire class several times over the course of the semester. Students on Front Row Duty are expected to sit in the front row and answer questions about the material as it is presented. This will give everyone a chance to participate and will help as we learn each other's names.
