CLASS EXERCISE ON ANALYSIS OF THEORETICAL & EMPIRICAL LITERATURE

During the first few weeks of class, find an empirical article on a topic of interest to you and bring the article to class. The article should be one that you will use in your empirical literature review. (Hint: Look for the words, research, study, qualitative, or survey in the abstract or title of the article). Before class, read the article thoroughly. Identify those elements of the research study that you feel are well done. Also, identify those aspects of the research study that could be strengthened. (Use the list of empirical literature components on pages 5-7 of this packet to identify the various components of the study). Be prepared to talk about your article in class. We will also use the article to complete the exercises on theoretical and empirical literature in Pyrczak and Bruce (2000).
