Announcements
- 08-29-11: Office hours for Thursday, 09-01-11,
will be from 1:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m., due to an afternoon appointment.
- 09-17-11: There is an error in the solutions to Homework #3. In problem 1(d) on p. 62, the numerator of my answer should be
8z3(1+z2)3-2(1+z2)4. The "third power" in the first (1+z2) term was inadvertently omitted in all of the lines. I apologize for the error.
- 09-23-11: Office hours for Wednesday, 09-28-11,
and Thursday, 09-29-11, are cancelled.
- 10-03-11: On Homework #6(a), the textbook has a type-o on p. 111, problem 7(b). The right-hand side should be
-cosh z.
- 10-13-11: I made an error on the last example I did in class on Wednesday, 10-12-11. I will re-do the example from the beginning on Friday, 12-14-11. I apologize for the error.
- 10-13-11: A cool math poem from the MAA journal Math Horizons: Seniors.
- 10-17-11: Office hours for Wednesday, 10-19-11,
are cancelled.
- 11-20-11: There was an error on the last part of the HW #11 assignment posted below. It has now been fixed, and should read p. 255: 1, 2, 4. I apologize for the error.
- 11-29-11: There is an error in the Homework #11 solutions in the solution to p. 248: 3. Somehow, in the middle of the problem, I changed
3z3 to 3z2. To correct the solutions, you need only replace 3z2 by the correct 3z3. I will try to correct the solutions and re-post them later today. I apologize for the error.
- 11-29-11: There is an error in the Homework #11 solutions in the solution to p. 248: 4(b). I misread the contour, and so found that the function was analytic inside the contour. However, the function is not analytic inside the contour. In fact, both singularities lie inside the contour, and the problem must be done similarly to problem 3(b). I apologize for the error.
- 11-29-11 (12:14 p.m.): Revised Homework #11 solutions are posted. Both errors mentioned above are fixed in the revised solutions.
12-10-11: I have just been advised that the last inequality in the Homework #1 Solutions is reversed. I apologize for the error.
