Gaming Security Management?

Casino gambling has experienced tremendous growth in the past two decades, with governments authorizing increases of both tribal and non-tribal casinos across the United States. Revenues from Indian Gaming more than tripled between 1995 and 2003. Currently there are more than 200,000 persons employed in the Gaming (gambling) industry, and that number is expected to increase for all related occupations. Security, both through personnel and technology, is an important part of Casino or Gaming management. Security includes physical security, surveillance and internal investigations, and security managers require extensive knowledge of a wide array of technology, surveillance measures, investigative techniques, human resource management principles, federal and state criminal laws, banking laws, and related regulations.

Security managers work closely with local/state/federal law enforcement and the casino industry faces new threats by terrorist organizations. This has increased the need for casino security to collaborate with governmental organizations tasked with homeland security, the financial crimes enforcement network, and other governmental organizations.

California State University Fresno is located in the Central Valley of California, and has several Tribal Casinos within easy driving distance from the university, with additional casinos in the planning stage. Such casinos provide ample employment opportunities not only for tribal members, but non-members as well, since more than 90% of all Indian Casino employees nationwide are non-members. Las Vegas, the gambling capital of the United States, is only six hours away from Fresno at 60 mph, and Reno five hours. Keep in mind that on the way there your foot is probably heavier on the accellerator than on the return trip.
