COMM 165: Computer Applications in Communication,
California State University, Fresno
Dr. John A. Cagle
Spring 2009Homepage: Work on & complete immediately
Using Dreamweaver, your first task is to create the content (text and any graphic images) of a homepage and learn how to upload it into your Lennon public_html directory. This first webpage is your anchor page, containing an introduction to you and links to your other pages. You can use a previous page as a template.
Click on homepage to see a sample homepage. Then SAVE AS the webpage you are looking at to the computer you are using.
Now open Dreamweaver and then use FILE / OPEN command to open the file you just downloaded. Edit the file by replacing the text and pictures with your own information and graphics.
Now SAVE AS the file. Give this homepage file a specific default name: index.htm
Note: all letters are in lower case. You next upload this file [and related files] to your Lennon public_html folder using an FTP program and that homepage will be available for the world to see.
Webpage Two: later this semester
The second webpage is taking previously existing copy and adapting it for a web environment, using Dreamweaver, creating links to and from your homepage, etc.
Website Three: near finals
Part of the final projects assignment for the class, your website (a homepage and at least three other linked original webpages) can be on any topic you wish; for example (but not limited to):

or for some university department or organization, such as the Children's Center, the Theatre Department, or whatever.- It may be a website designed for a community organization, such as the American Red Cross, Rotary, or whatever.
- It may be a website designed as a commercial for a Fresno business enterprise (note: for this assignment you must not charge anybody for it).
