Speech 12 – Interpretation
Readers Theater Presentation

Time Limit:  20 minutes

Ok This is the BIG ONE… This will be a group effort and it is worth the most points – so treat it like a final.

The graded objectives for this assignment are as follows:

            1.         Each member must speak for an equal amount of time.

            2.         Each presentation must have a unifying theme.

            3.         Each presentation must have all three genres of literature that  we have discussed in class. (prose, poetry, & drama)

            4.         Each presentation will be graded on both individual and group components. (200 points total - 150 individual points, 50 overall group points)

            5.         Each member is to use proper focus, vocal, body and facial expressions.

            6.         Work must come from a published source and include one local (California is local enough) author.

            7.         Each member is to required to submit a notebook.

Notebook Requirements:

            1.         Notebooks must be COMPLETE!! Each notebook should contain every presentation from the semester in the order presented, separated by tabs.

            2.         Introduction –  If the group decides to have one unifying introduction that is fine as long as every member has the introduction in their binders. The introduction should introduce the theme and authors used. It should also include any information that the audience may need to know in order to set the mood or tone for the pieces.

            3.         Full script – please re-type all of the elements being used for the                                   group presentation – please highlight or indicate who will be portraying which part – what I suggest is that each person be responsible for their portion giving their section to the other members.

            4.         Conclusion (this should include some type of appropriate ending such as a moral to the story, or an anecdotal reason for choosing the various pieces)

            5.         Brief write up on the author or authors used. This should not be more than two pages. Again my suggestion is that each member be responsible for their section and share this information with the group. (This should include all citations used)

Reflection papers will be due one class day after your performance. They should be 2-3 pages in length – refer to the reflection paper guidelines for more information.
