Art as Argumentation Reflection Paper Assignment

Now that we have completed all of the Art as Argumentation presentations you will have an opportunity to write an argumentative essay. Do you feel that art is an argument? The assignment is to prepare a three page persuasive essay on whether “Art” should be viewed as argumentation.

The paper must contain the following:  

** A clear definition of what you consider “Art”

** A position – do you agree or disagree

** A rationale for your position – present two clearly developed, and distinct reasons to support your position.  Make sure you give some specific types of art and specific examples in your rationale.

** Somewhere in the paper you should mention two pieces of art used in the class (no you cannot use yours). This can be in the defining or in the rationale portion.

** Lastly you must bring up two NEW pieces of art in your rationale.  

This essay is worth 30 points and is due at the beginning of class.

(T Th class due date Thursday 23^rd of September)
(MWF class due date is Friday 24^th of September)

Papers must be three full pages, typed, double spaced with an acceptable font no larger than 12 pt.

Points will be deducted for papers that do not meet the above standards.
