Art as Argumentation Reflection Paper Assignment

Now that we have completed all of the Art as Argumentation presentations do you feel that art is an argument? The assignment is to prepare a two page reflective essay on whether “Art” should be viewed as argumentation. If so should we study it? Why? If not why do you feel it is not an argument?

** Make sure to give a clear description – how you define “Art”

** Then advocate for your position – do you agree or disagree

** Lastly write a rationale for your position – please present two clearly developed, and distinct reasons to support your position.  Make sure you give some specific types of art and specific examples in your rationale. (examples should not include any of the art we used in classroom presentations)

This reflection paper is worth 30 points and is due at the beginning of class on Thursday February 7th.

Papers must be two full pages, typed, double spaced with an acceptable font no larger than 12 pt.

Points will be deducted for papers that do not meet these standards or papers that have larger than normal margins.
