What? |
Every two weeks, a mathematical problem will be posted in PB 428, in the math lab S2 323, and at
http://zimmer.csufresno.edu/~mnogin/competition/.
There will be a series of 6 different problems. You will have 2 weeks to submit your solution. Solutions must be complete, supported by appropriate explanations/proofs,
but you may use well-known theorems. The first person to submit a correct solution will receive 10 points, the second person will receive 9 points, and the third one
will receive 7 points. After that all correct solutions will receive 5 points. Please note, all participants must submit their own work. |
Why? |
Top three participants will receive certificates. The winner will also receive a trophy and/or a prize. |
When? |
The first problem will be posted on Monday, September 19, 2005. Solutions will be accepted till 5 PM Friday, September 30. You can give your
solution either to Dominique Banner or to Maria Nogin (PB 341; slip your paper under the door if no one is in). Please write your name, email, and date and time of
submission on your paper. You can find a running total of points earned by individuals throughout the competition in PB 428 as well as online at
http://zimmer.csufresno.edu/~mnogin/competition/. |
