Math Field Day - CSU Fresno

Math Field Day is a competition for middle and high school students (grades 6-12).

The purpose of this event is to provide motivated students with the opportunity to meet and compete with students from other schools and to receive recognition. We believe that this event provides a unique learning situation for students, and that recognition of their participation will serve to stimulate their interest in mathematics and encourage continuation of their mathematical endeavors.

We need volunteers for the following tasks:

proctor contests (9am-12pm, most volunteers are needed for this task)

some proctors will need to first take the participants to their competition rooms

record scores and other office work (10:45-2pm)

play games (1-2:30pm, games will be provided)

set up (11am-12pm) and take down (3:30-4:30pm) the awards ceremony site

You will get:

breakfast and lunch
great experience
appreciation from math faculty
chance to win a raffle prize (Math Dept t-shirt)

The event is approximately 9 AM - 4:30 PM, but if you are only available for a part of this period, that's fine. Please send an email to Dr. Maria Nogin (mnogin@csufresno.edu) by Monday, April 17 if you are willing and able to help. Please indicate your availability and which math classes you are currently enrolled in, if any.

If you have siblings or friends who are now in middle or high school please tell them about this competition!
