Homework 10

Make three identical paper models of a square pyramid with x by x base (choose your value of x: say, 10 cm, or anything you want) and height x, such that one of the edges is perpendicular to the base. Three such pyramids can be put together to make an x by x by x cube. This illustrates that the volume of each pyramid is (1/3)x3.

Note: in general, the volume of a pyramid/cone with base of area A and height h is (1/3)Ah.
