TEXT: Sheldon Ross, Topics in Finite and Discrete Mathematics. Cambridge Univ. Press, 2000

COURSE OUTLINE: We will cover chapters 1 through 6 of the book (approx. 2 week per chapter plus one class period to go over selected homework problems.)

TESTS
There will be three midterm tests worth 20% each. The first midterm will cover chapters 1 and 2; the second midterm will cover chapters 3 and 4 and the third midterm will cover chapters 5 and 6. The final (Dec. 19) is comprehensive and worth 30%.

HOMEWORK
There will be one homework set per chapter. The homework grade totals 10%.

GRADING
The following is the formula giving the final letter grade g expressed as a function of your total percentage t .]

g(t) = A for 85 <= t <= 100
g(t) = B for 75 <= t < 85
g(t) = C for 65 <= t < 75
g(t) = D for 50 <= t < 65
g(t) = F for t < 50
