On the trail from Landmannalauger to þorsmörk in Iceland, summer of 94.  5-day backpacking trip. 

Next to Bristlecone Pine in the White Mountains of South Eastern California.  Oldest living things on earth, with this tree probably 2-3 thousand years old.  Packed to top of White Mountain on this trip, summer 96.

Day 2 at Joshua Flat, on the Death Valley Road, enroute to the Eureka Dunes (now in Death Valley National Park).  Winter 90.

At Russbach ski area, near the tiny hamlet of Abtenau, near Salzburg, Austria.  Trying out downhill for the first time.  Now ski exclusively Telemark.  Winter 93-94.

Desert tortoise, off-trail near Pima Canyon, Tucson.  One of two tortoises seen this day.  It's rare to see even one.  Also, trailed Road Runner on a hunt for about an hour.  Spring 99.
