  • The Homework List is now available (includes assignments through the first few weeks). Though I currently have no plans to do so, deadlines and problem sets are subject to change according to announcements made in class.

  1. WeBWorK is now set up for all currently enrolled students. Look for an email in your @csufresno inbox for details.
  2. For those students still waiting to enroll: I will be sending emails by tomorrow afternoon confirming admittance to the class. If you have not notified me by email of your intent to join the class, be sure to do so as soon as possible! Please provide your student ID number. (You do not need to do this if you are enrolled or on the official Wait List for the course.)

I will try to type solutions soon, but no guarantees -- my priority is to make sure the actual exam is complete, fair, and error-free! If you are not sure how to do a problem, be sure to ask.
  2. A reminder that our problem session this week will be longer to give us extra time to go over problems before the test. It will be from 2:15 to 3:45pm. Please come and bring your questions!
  3. Do you get nervous before exams? Your first line of defense is to be as well-prepared as possible. The following suggestions may help:
     1. Practice problems, including proofs, from all the sections many times, until you reach a high level of accuracy and feel completely comfortable.
     2. Talk over difficult problems and concepts with your study group.
     3. Of course, you should not hesitate to see me (or email me) with any questions. If possible, come to problem session this week (see above).
     With continued study and practice everyone in our class is capable of doing well on the exam. I will be rooting for all of you! Good luck!

  • Section 2.4 is now a bonus section. You may turn it in either this week (with the 2/20 homework) or next week (with the 2/27 homework), for extra credit. This material will not be tested.   1. As announced in class, we will be having our next quiz during the last 15-20 minutes of class on Friday, March 13. It will cover sections 3.3 through 4.5.
  2. The Homework List is now complete for the term (deadlines and problem lists are still subject to change, though I currently have no plans to do so).
  3. The WeBWorK set HW4-4 has been updated. If you have worked on this set already, please note that there is a new problem (and one of the old problems has been deleted, as it is the same as a problem in HW4-5).
  4. A reminder to set your clocks one hour ahead tonight for Daylight Savings Time! As I mentioned in my email, WeBWorK is designed to begin Daylight Savings Time in April. So for the next four weeks, the system will say that the assignments are due at 10:30pm PST, which translates to 11:30pm PDT. This means that the assignments are due at the NEW 11:30 time. Please contact me if you have any questions about when the assignments are due.
