Dr. Zellmer has been a member of the faculty in the Chemistry Department at California State University, Fresno since 1969. In 2005 he retired as Professor of Chemistry, and taught during the Spring Semester as part of the Faculty Early Retirement Program (FERP) until the end of the Spring Semester 2010.
