Natural Science 116: Science, High Technology, and Society

One of the huge priorities in Teacher Education is to improve the level of science literacy in our elementary school teachers. Dr. Stanley Ziegler (retired) and other members of the science and education faculty have offered workshops for science enrichment since the early 1970's. More recently, the University adopted a Blended Liberal Studies Curriculum (also known as the Multiple Subjects Credential) that greatly increased the level of science and mathematics for our future teachers.

This course was developed out of my experiences with these teacher training workshops. The web site is updated each semester to alert students to changing technology and energy topics. Students are required to make presentations on a technology topic, and do very well indeed, once their fear of science has been overcome.
